Announcing our Extreme Job Search Makeover winner
It was an exciting time this last spring as we looked over the applications for the Extreme Job Search Makeover. While we had many entries, one that stood out to us captured the essence of what many security cleared job professionals were grappling with.
“Please tell us why you are in need of an Extreme Job Search Makeover: It has been over seven years since I last entered the job market. I am rusty, my resume is out-of-date, my interviewing skills are in great need of a tune up. I am looking to make a career transition within the intelligence community and having this educational opportunity will, I hope, provide the springboard and momentum to have a successful job search. Thank you for my consideration.”
After a few email exchanges to ensure that the job seeker would be available to participate, we were happy to accept Mr. Allen into the program.
As a recap, the Extreme Job Search Makeover included:
- Resume review and career strategy coaching with HR Expert Patra Frame.
- Social media overview as it relates to a job search, including a LinkedIn Profile review with ClearedJobs.Net’s CMO Kathleen Smith.
- Navigating ClearedJobs.Net including setting up a profile, a job search agent and uploading a resume with ClearedJobs.Net’s COO John Nixon
- Interview Session with a Recruiter selected from those in attendance at our Cleared Job Fair.
Prior to Mr. Allen’s arrival, he was asked set up a profile on ClearedJobs.Net and LinkedIn as well as to provide his resume for a pre-review by our Resume Expert Patra Frame. Supplemental information such as social media guidance and developing a caree strategy were provided to Mr. Allen in his Extreme Job Search Makeover Handbook.
As we waited for his arrival, we also spoke with a few of the recruiters at the Cleared Job Fair about their interest in doing a mock interview with Mr. Allen as part of the overall experience. To our delight we had two very experienced recruiters compete for the opportunity and we decided for everyone’s best interest that both recruiters would spend some time with Mr. Allen. We are very grateful for the time of Chris Griesbach, General Dynamics IT and John Garrett, HP Enterprise Services for their willingness to participate.
After spending a quick hour in the Cleared Job Fair to meet with some of the over 25 cleared facilities employers in attendance, Mr. Allen joined Patra Frame for lunch to discuss his overall career strategy and challenges.
