Cleared Job Seeker Question & Answer: Why Employers Refer Job Seekers to their Web Sites

Posted by Kathleen Smith

In going through the many job seeker evaluations from yesterday’s Cleared Job Fair, we noted that a few job seekers have asked why employers refer job seekers to company web sites and/or why companies ask job seekers to apply for jobs online.

This is actually a common concern that is raised at various job fairs. We have a helpful video that addresses these concerns directly on our YouTube channel. The video is an interview with Maureen Conte who has been a recruiter in this industry for over 25 years with many companies.

Basically, the main issue is that of the OFCCP – Office of Federal Contractor Compliance. OFCCP states that all applicants must be tracked. For all federal government contract work, applicants must be tracked all the way through being hired. If there is an audit conducted and there is not an applicant tracking number and file for an employee, the OFCCP can block the company for bidding on further government contract work.t

We hope this helps to address this question and that job seekers find the information to be very helpful.

We thank all cleared job seekers for their attendance of yesterday’s Cleared Job Fair and look forward to seeing you all at the next one!
