Memorial Day 2010

Posted by Kathleen Smith

Growing up for me Memorial Day meant the near end of school, and the start of summer vacation. Since then, I have moved to the East Coast, married into a military family and joined a veteran owned company, but nothing is as poignant for me as living in Washington DC on Memorial Day.

Taking the time each year to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country is now a very important part of our year. While we do many things throughout the year to honor and support those who serve our country, it is this moment when we realize that there are those who are not coming home, families without family members and those who had no thought but of dying for their country.

The few things we have do here at ClearedJobs.Net to honor our military including Military Spouse Appreciation Day, providing support to those transitioning out of the military, supporting the Wounded Warrior Career Fair, sending military care packages and once again sponsoring the Wounded Warrior EOD Undefeated Bike Ride. These and other opportunities we take throughout the year, because we believe that the reasons why we have a Memorial Day should be remembered all year long.

However you chose to spend your time this weekend – visiting friends, watching a parade or spending time with family – may you be safe.
