The 2009 U.S. Air Force Cycling Classic, combines two signature races into one action-packed cycling weekend. The excitement begins on Saturday, May 30th throughout the streets of Clarendon with the 12th edition of The U.S. Air Force Cycling Classic – Clarendon Cup, formerly known as the CSC Invitational. The famous 1 km, five-turn course will test the world’s best cyclists who specialize in criterion style racing as they compete in this USA Cycling National Racing Calendar event. Saturday’s race will be a tremendous spectator show, featuring 100 short laps around the Clarendon Metro and surrounding neighborhood streets. Amateur, women, and kids’ races fill the morning schedule, leading up to the day’s main event at noon.

On Sunday

On Sunday, May 31st, the action moves to Crystal City for the 3rd year in a row where the pros will then compete in 14 laps of a challenging 12.5 km course around The Air Force Memorial, the Pentagon and through the colorful streets of Crystal City. This is a Union Cyclists Internationale’s (UCI) sanctioned race, and is part of the USA Cycling’s Pro Tour. Prior to the main event, cycling enthusiasts of all abilities are invited to test their fitness levels in the 2nd Annual Crystal Ride – a non-competitive event that offers participants an opportunity to ride the pro course for up to 3 . hours! Crystal Ride promotes cycling as a personal fitness choice and is part of Crystal City’s Business Improvement District Crystal Fit campaign.

Enjoy your weekend!!!
