Memorial Day 2025
Many of us will gather with friends and family this weekend at cookouts, parks, and parades. We’ll enjoy a well-earned break and the unofficial start of summer. But as we do, let’s take a moment to remember why we have this day set aside.
Memorial Day is not just part of a long weekend. It is a time to honor the brave women and men of our military who gave their lives in service to this country. Their sacrifice makes our peace, prosperity, and personal freedoms possible.
Conflict continues across the world. While some battles are smaller and farther from the headlines, our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Guardians still stand watch. Many serve in dangerous places voluntarily and for love of country, and many have laid down their lives in defense of the ideals we hold dear.
As you enjoy this time with family and friends, attend a parade, or relax in your backyard, please take a few moments to reflect. Think of those who gave all so that we can live freely. And think of the families they left behind, whose quiet strength reminds us that freedom always comes at a cost.
Let us honor our fallen not just with silence but with pride. Remembering them is not a burden; it is our responsibility.
We owe it to them and will never forget it.
