Memorial Day 2020
Without question, 2020 will be a year that we will all remember for a very long time.
Our current health situation has created a great deal of fear and uncertainty in our country and the world, with many lives that will be permanently changed.
The news is saturated by the ever-changing information about this global pandemic. Many people are stressed, fearful, restricted, and unsure of the future. And perhaps folks are feeling like they are making sacrifices in their lives. To be sure, it is not a pleasant time.
But this Monday is Memorial Day, a day that we set aside each year to remember what true sacrifice looks like. For over 244 years, American Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines have dealt with stress, fear, pain, suffering, and family separation for months, if not years, at a stretch. And hundreds of thousands made the ultimate sacrifice to provide us with the freedoms that we still have today.
It’s true that we may be inconvenienced by this health situation for a while longer, but we will all get through this together and return to lives of freedom and liberty.
So, please join me in taking a few moments this weekend to remember all of these brave service members who have laid down their lives for our liberties. We owe it to them never to forget their sacrifice.
