Memorial Day 2021

memorial day

It goes without saying that the COVID pandemic during this past year has been an enormous challenge for our country as well as the rest of the world. A great many lives have been lost and many others have been changed forever.

The encouraging news is that according to the CDC, we are coming to the end of this long ordeal and life is beginning to return to the familiar rhythms of the past. We all know that our “new normal” may look very different from what we remember from just 15 months ago. However, even with all these changes, we will still have freedoms and liberties that the vast majority of the world will never enjoy.

It is important to remember that since the founding of America, thousands of families have had to adjust to a new normal after the loss of a father, mother, brother, sister, son or daughter who sacrificed their lives protecting our way of life.

So, this Memorial Day, please join me to take a moment to give our thanks to all of the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines by remembering their ultimate sacrifice which allows all of us to think, speak and live freely. We owe it to them never to forget.
